MCINTOSH MAC 1900
(1971-1975)

The McIntosh MAC 1900, introduced in 1971, holds the distinction of being the first solid-state receiver produced by the legendary American hi-fi company. Designed to blend McIntosh’s high-end audio engineering with the convenience of an all-in-one unit, the MAC 1900 combines a powerful solid-state amplifier, a sensitive FM tuner, and a precision preamp section in a single chassis. Rated at 55 watts per channel, it delivers clean, musical power with the signature McIntosh warmth and reliability, earning it a loyal following among audiophiles and casual listeners alike. With its elegant glass front panel, aluminum knobs, and rock-solid build quality, the MAC 1900 became a benchmark for integrated audio performance in its era and remains a prized piece among vintage audio collectors today.

The only problem with the mac 1900 was that the volume pots all died - as did the balance pots. this was a very Difficult restoration, because i had to undo the Disastrous work that someone else had done to the volume and balance pots first. i Recapped all the boards, installed new transistors, converted all lamps to led, installed new output transistors, de-ox’d all switches, re-painted the mesh grill, and only after that did i tackle the volume and balance. it worked out great!
